The Puzzle: Connect all nine dots in four straight lines without taking the pencil off the paper or retracing. The solution is my logo.

I am founder and director of The Center for Family Solutions in Walnut Creek, and teaching/training at multiple universities allows me to join clinical practice with current research and innovations towards successful outcomes for my clients: problem resolution ; enhanced quality of life, and perhaps most importantly, new skills and competencies which allow for clients to become problem solvers for future life challenges on their own

My background as a high school and elementary school teacher, in hindsight, catalyzed my interest in psychology. I recognized the connections between success at school and family dynamics, social dynamics, and cultural dynamics. This experience set the groundwork for my interest in becoming a psychotherapist. I also spent several years as an artist and sculptor working with clay and was one of the original founders of the Berkeley Pottery Guild.

I am trained in Strategic therapy, Solution focused therapy, Narrative therapy, Social Constructionist therapy, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing). All of these models have a common theme: joining with clients in a search for competency, personal resources and strengths towards problem resolution and enhanced joy and vitality.

Choosing the right therapist is an important first step. I can promise you not only my years of experience and training, but also my commitment to integrity and collaboration. It is the competence and common sense of the therapist who can join with you in a safe environment that can facilitate a therapeutic experience than can make the important differences in your life.

I welcome the opportunity and privilege to work with you and/or your family. I work with individuals, couples, families, children and teenagers.
